Carrick the man with a plan
Manchester United travelled to Spain to take on Villarreal in what was an important Champions League tie. It has to be said that United looked like they had a game plan for the first time in a long time.
Michael Carrick set his team up to keep it tight in midfield and defence for the first hour. He then made some changes that allowed his side to dominate the last half hour.
Following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking on Sunday Carrick stepped up to become caretaker boss at Old Trafford. It is yet to be known who will get the long-term managerial job.
Adam of The United Stand sounded relieved in the video about the team having a plan. He said: We [Manchester United] were solid.
If United had of lost or drawn against Villarreal it would have meant they would have needed to go to Young Boys and win in their last group fixture, to avoid Thursday night football in the Europa League.
Adam went on to praise Carrick in making the substitutions at the right time.
The team is still the same, the coaching setup is still the same and we should be beating Villarreal.
Ronaldo broke a English club record by scoring in five Champions League games in a row. His nifty 78th minute goal was worth waiting for.
Jadon Sancho also got on the scoresheet with a thunderous strike in the 90th minute. His first goal for the club.
Man of the match Fred had a superb game in the middle of the park, he broke play up well and covered a lot of ground. His pressing led to the first goal.
United still need a long term manager but Carrick has said that he will stay as long as needed.
